I'm a big believer in giving back to the community and helping those less fortunate than ourselves. Below are some charities that I really like.
These charities all work on the "teach someone to fish" sort of philosophy. Each one of these takes your donation, and allows it to grow. They are not a one time "gift" but rather can be passed on to other families and have a large impact on their community.
Many people have already chosen their charities for the year, but if you are still looking for a worthy cause, check these out!
Its a 5k Mud Run and obstacle course! I am doing this with a few other teachers and friends of mine. The event is April 16th just outside Atlanta, GA! All money raised will go to St. Jude! If you like, please donate. Note: Donations to any of these charities will not change the way I see or grade your child's work. I simply find these a worthy cause. :)
Donate farm animals and plants to families in third world countries. Donating animals is more than a one time gift; it keeps giving. They can harvest their own animals, breed them and sell or trade them for clothing, education, etc. They can even give them away to other families and pass on the gift! Check it out!
A charity that gives micro-loans to individuals all around the world. As they repay the loan, you can re-loan it to a new person! Help change a life for as little as $25! I did, and Luba now has enough money to start her own clothing company in Uganda, Melanie now has a fully stocked store, and Bilal has enough clothing to sell to support his family! TRY IT HERE!
